By harnessing the power of AI technology, Odibo aims to match tradespeople with apprentices and jobs that align with their skills. This innovative approach allows apprentices to gain practical experience and earn a living wage while learning.

By increasing the number of skilled minority individuals in the workforce, Odibo aims to enhance employment rates, alleviate poverty, and stimulate economic growth, particularly in Black communities.

Problem Statement

The skilled trades industry in the United States is marked by a lack of diversity, with only 5.8% of skilled tradespeople being Black.

This racial disparity has led to increased poverty rates, diminished economic prospects, and heightened unemployment rates among the Black population.

There is an urgent need to address this issue and create equal opportunities for all.

Racial Disparity in Skilled Trades

The racial disparity in skilled trades can be attributed to various factors, including labor market discrimination, residential segregation, limited access to education and employment opportunities, and inadequate technical skills training.

The Covid-19 pandemic has further exacerbated these disparities, disproportionately affecting Black communities.

Solution

Odibo’s solution involves providing AI-powered peer-to-peer training programs for unemployed Black individuals, offering a unique advantage over traditional trade schools. This approach enables apprentices to gain practical experience and earn a living wage while learning, making Odibo’s personalized training programs accessible to those who cannot afford the cost of attending trade schools.
